Junie, our beautiful Golden Retriever, has been the beating heart of our family since 2019. Known affectionately as the resident 'mamma' of Brown Hiking Trails, Junie possesses an extraordinary, boundless capacity for love. Whenever a new rescue arrives at the sanctuary—whether it’s a fragile fawn, a tiny kitten, a baby chicken, a duckling, or a nest of baby turkeys—Junie instantly takes them under her protective wing. Her gentle, patient spirit provides a safe haven for these vulnerable creatures, and when she isn’t out exploring, she can almost always be found contentedly snuggled up side-by-side with her eclectic family of cats, dogs, and rescued baby deer. When she isn't busy mothering the sanctuary's newest additions, Junie is a true water-loving adventurer at heart. She greets every morning with a wagging tail, ready to seek out the nearest pool, pond, or cascading waterfall. One of her absolute favorite pastimes is wading deep into the water, eagerly waiting for a rock to be tossed so she can joyfully splash out to fetch it. Balancing her playful love for the water with her deeply tender soul, Junie is the ultimate embodiment of the trust, peace, and cross-species harmony that makes our trails so incredibly special.
