Mitty
Mitty’s story at Brown Hiking Trails is one of beautiful transformation. We found him and his sister, Bunny, at an abandoned property, and in those early days, the world was a very intimidating place for him. Mitty was afraid of everything—from the dogs and cats to our resident deer—and he wasn't shy about using a quick, protective swipe to hold his own and put the other animals in their place if they got too close. He was a survivor, guarding his space with a cautious, sharp-eyed confidence. But country living has a way of softening even the most guarded hearts. Over time, Mitty has truly found his place in our family, shedding his fear to become a core member of our hiking crew. He now trots right along with the deer, dogs, and other cats, proving that he is as much a part of the trail as any of them. Whether he’s nestled deep in the hay alongside a resting deer or curled up in a snuggle pile with his canine and feline friends, Mitty has learned the joy of companionship. While he’s certainly not afraid to stand his ground with his paws when the moment calls for it, his favorite place in the world is exactly where he started: safely and contentedly snuggled right on my lap.
